Job Description
Job Title: Project Engineer
Location: Norwich
Salary: £29,000-£35,000
QUALIFICATIONS:
Desirable to BSc / BEng standard in Control, or Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum standard of HNC or equivalent, in Control, Mechanical Engineering
KEY TASKS:
A Senior Project Engineer will have demonstrated his / her ability to manage the work of other team members and will generally run two or more projects. He / she will liase with all relevant Departments to ensure the work is carried out and fulfils all technical, commercial and quality requirements of a contract.
General
To review the technical and commercial aspects of project specifications with reference to the submitted quotations.
To liase directly with the client (with Engineering Group support, where necessary) on all technical matters relating to the design of packages.
To ensure, though the Engineering Group, technical compliance of all elements of engineering design on a project basis.
To review and approve, in accordance with the company authorisation levels, purchase requisitions against projects, and to ensure that the project PO Schedule is accurately maintained.
To review and approve design documentation, where required, in accordance with engineering discipline / expertise.
To monitor and control the progress, QA compliance and efficient flow of projects, and review with Project Engineering Manager, on a regular basis.
To maintain accurate cost records (including PO Schedules, Claims and Variations) and to monitor and control project costs, through Cost to Completes, Contract Transaction Reports and the above, and ensure budgeted margins are achieved or enhanced.
To inform the Project Engineering Manager on a regular agreed basis of project progress and problem areas.
Other
i. To assist Sales Department with technical support in tendering.
ii. To assist test / service / commissioning effort during the appropriate phases of contracts.
iii. To attend meetings with existing / prospective clients to promote the Company, new products etc.
Health and Safety
i. To be conversant with and implement the Company Safety Policy.
ii. To be conversant with and implement all relevant Company Health and Safety requirements contained in Safety Manuals, Procedure Manuals and Standards Manuals.
iii. To implement and review written Risk Assessments for those work activities within their areas of responsibility.
iv. To be conversant with and implement the requirements of specific Health and Safety Regulations e.g. COSHH, VDU, Confined Spaces etc.
v. To know the requirements of the relevant parts of the Health and Safety At Work Act, and all other appropriate Regulations, and ensure they are complied with.
