Job Description

This role supports the strategic growth plans in Commercial business of our expanding Client. The Senior Commercial Underwriter will oversee the development and maintenance of relationships between their sales and underwriting teams to deliver a market leading new business quotation and policy issue service.

The successful applicant will use their extensive Commercial knowledge together with their relationship building skills to deliver best practice and create a continuous improvement environment.

You will

  • Liaise with and support the Business and the Operations Team to actively develop sustainable, profitable Commercial growth.

  • Handle your own personal work load of the more complex Commercial cases, including customer visits.

  • Share the highest level of underwriting authority in the business.

  • You will be a referral point for all Commercial new business enquiries.

  • Provide Commercial technical expertise and support to planned training sessions.

  • Support training, coaching and development of the technical/sales skills of their sales and support staff.

  • Support Underwriting Team Leaders in delivering an efficient, quality service.

Person Specification

In addition to having a successful background in Commercial underwriting together with strong interpersonal skills, you will need to be able to demonstrate the following attributes:

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Sound judgement and decision-making

  • Good organisation and planning

  • Ability to deliver results within timescales

  • Good report writing and presentation skills

Also you should be ACII qualified.
