Job Description

Graduate Engineer - Projects (Chemical) Location: Norwich

My established client, based in Norwich is currently looking for a Graduate Engineer to join the Projects Department.

The Projects Department provides a capital and process engineering support service to the operations department. The job holder will be required to interface directly with Plant Managers, Contractors and Maintenance Managers according to the priorities demanded by production activities. The basic purpose of the position is to provide process support to site production facilities. Furthermore, the Graduate Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing capital projects, designed to improve plant productivity, safety and environmental performance as required.

The individual will also assist with the development of legislation driven Site Engineering Standards and will participate in the management of site based Contractors, to ensure maintenance of site standards and procedures.

Reporting directly to the Projects Manager the major tasks and responsibilities will include:

  1. Development of solutions to production problems, focusing on safety, value for money and minimum timeframe.
  2. Implement agreed solutions adhering to site standards and UK legislation to an agreed programme and budget.
  3. Acquisition of knowledge of relevant standards and legislation to enable implementation of the above.
  4. Utilisation of site procurement systems to obtain tenders for and to purchase new equipment.

The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate the following knowledge and experiences:

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering on a course recognised by the Institution of Chemical Engineers.

  • Computer literate

  • Ability to work as part of a team and assimilate new skills quickly.
